Why doesn’t Windows Explorer Find Files? – Solve it Easily

9 de February de 2022

The Windows file explorer is a fundamental tool that has been available since the beginning of this operating system and all its versions, because with it, we can get everything that we have stored in the computer system without wasting much time. This is why this access tool, when it fails, feels very and it is that with this we have different very useful functions such as having access to the explorer from the CMD.

But sometimes it has flaws that can leave us without this precious service, as they can vary between unexpected closures, errors, does not access the search that is performed, freezing, blockages among others plus. In this article we will explore the causes of why this happens, we will see the possible solutions to have it working according to what we need, and we cannot do without this useful tool that the system offers us.

What is the reason Windows Explorer does not search for files?

As for the causes that can cause the malfunction that this part of the system may have, sometimes the start of Windows may have to do with what is happening, causing it not to start its own files correctly. But this can only be conjecture, for this reason we must investigate further; what happens to the explorer.

In all the processes that are executed in an operating system, there are possible errors and these are notified, which generates that they are presented as responses, updates for those componentswhich promise to solve the problem that is occurring, this time it may be that this is the most reliable thing that is causing the problem.

Windows 10 update failures

As for the explorer of the Microsoft Windows Operating system, it can also present problems for these reasons because these same updates are the ones that generate this problem, because when a general system update comes into force and it does not receive it, it stops matching the information it needs to function properly.

It is for this reason that we must always keep in mind to make the relevant updates, to be, so to speak, at the forefront of what the useful explorer needs. Only receiving the update can solve the problem, although it may also happen that this is not the cause of the damage, because if we have it updated and it fails, we must continue investigating.

What to do when file explorer has this problem?

When we have the updates up to date, and this tool continues to present various problems, we know that it is not the cause of updates. We can find ourselves in a situation that we must take on our own, for this we can proceed in different ways, one would be to Restart the Task Explorer, this is sometimes very useful, we can use the run window to open it from the root of the system and see what happens.

Windows has also incorporated in its system a problem solver who is in charge of doing a checkup and a functionality test, to see and determine what is going on. Let’s see how to apply these options to be able to run it effectively and return it to normal. We can also create a shortcut to the browser, so we can open it directly or apply this troubleshooter

Restart the browser

The fundamental purpose of this restart is to make all its internal processes that execute it work, in this way we can know if the problem comes from these services. So we can count on having access to its functions actively and comprehensively.. For this we must do the following.

  1. Start> Task Manager.
  2. Now we go to the “Windows Processes” section.
  3. Then, we are located in the “Windows Explorer”.
  4. To restart it, right click and click “Restart”.
  5. We wait a moment for it to restart and then we execute it.

Open the ‘troubleshooter’

As we mentioned before, Windows has a troubleshooter, which is very useful for various activities that exhibit incorrect behavior. With this we can run an analysis of Windows Explorerand it will give us a report and advice that we can follow to solve, for this we must proceed.

  1. Home> Settings.
  2. Update and security.
  3. Solve problems.
  4. We look for the “Additional troubleshooters” option.
  5. Click on “Indexing Search”.
  6. The “Activate the troubleshooter” button will be activated.

The troubleshooter will tell us that through a list of problems that occur with the Explorer, After checking the corresponding boxes, we give “Accept”. Then the solver will start to perform the repair, then it only remains to check if this process was effective. One of the ways to quickly verify is, if it allows us to delete recent files from the browser, this will give us a signal that everything is in order.

Using the ‘Run’ window

Through the execute window we can do what would be a manual repair of Windows Explorer, which in this case is located with the name of “File Indexing”, to carry out this action we will proceed as follows.

restarting windows explorer

  1. Windows + R to open the run window.
  2. Then we copy “rundll32.exe shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL srchadmin.dll”
  3. In the start box “we enter Indexing”
  4. In the window that appears we click on “Advanced Options”.
  5. Click on the “File Types” tab.
  6. Check the option “Index file properties and contents”.
  7. We click on “Accept”.
  8. In the message we click on “Accept”.

In this way, the reconfiguration of the Indexing reconfiguration process will continue, which would be the same Windows file explorer.
